The Presidential Transition Council has issued a caution to anyone without official business to avoid Eagle Square in Abuja on May 29, 2023, the day of President-elect Bola Tinubu and Vice-President-elect Kashim Shettima’s inauguration.
National Security Adviser (NSA) and council member Babagana Monguno (retd) emphasized during a press conference that all provisions for security personnel had been made.
He asked anyone who weren’t in charge of security to stay away from the area around the inauguration.
If you have no business in security on Inauguration Day, avoid the program, he said.
“I want to be clear that we don’t anticipate anything bad or destructive. I therefore urge everyone to maintain their composure. Please share this warning with our visitors, especially those from other countries, if you use social media. It presents an opportunity to learn more.
Monguno expressed optimism that the ceremony would go forward without any unpleasant or unfavorable circumstances, according to DAILY TRUST. He urged people to maintain their composure and urged users of social media to share this information with visitors, especially those from other countries.
Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of the Council, declared that the event’s theme will be “Nigeria: Better Together,” highlighting the importance of the approaching inauguration.
He gave the public the assurance that the Media and Publicity sub-Committee would give comprehensive information, including accreditation guidelines.
Presidents, Heads of Government, and Heads of International Organizations have all received invites from the council, and several have already confirmed their attendance. During the inaugural period, Mustapha confirmed that extensive safety and security precautions had been put in place.
The events will be streamed live on various social media platforms and will be broadcast by all major stations. Details about accreditation procedures, as well as other material, will be provided by the subcommittee on media and publicity.
“Invitations have been sent to the presidents, heads of state, and leaders of international organizations. It is encouraging to report that a large number of the invited guests have formally confirmed their attendance.
I want to reassure everyone that we have taken the necessary steps to ensure everyone’s safety and security during the duration of the inauguration, he said.
Mustapha highlighted that the inauguration would go on as planned on May 29 in response to worries about potential protests by opposition parties.
He acknowledged current legal disputes but assured the public that Nigeria’s electoral and constitution rules would be upheld, preserving their integrity.
